Brittany Mahomes Has Been Diagnosed With Painful 'Mother's' Injury

It turns out Patrick Mahomes isn't the only member of his family battling an injury this NFL offseason.

Despite suffering a torn ACL towards the end of the 2025 season, Mahomes is on track to participate in OTAs for the Kansas City Chiefs. They're scheduled to have their first three practice sessions from May 26-28.

"He is in a good position to be able to do some things," Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said in regards to his quarterback. "If he can do some things, [he 'll do it]. Phase 2 [of the offseason program], remember, there's no contact and there's no offense versus defense. It's Phase 3 that you get into that. ... He's in a position where he can do everything, I think."

While Mahomes is rehabbing from a torn ACL, his wife Brittany is battling an injury that's exclusive to mothers.

Mahomes revealed that she's nursing De Quervain's tenosynovitis, also known as "Mother's wrist." She shared this news on her Instagram Story this Tuesday.

"To find out I have this," Brittany wrote. "Been battling it for probably around a year now thinking it will get better, well it never did and started to get pretty bad...so now I get to wear this cool thing."

What is this injury?

According to Marin Health, De Quervain's tenosynovitis is another form of tendonitis.

"The tendons run in a tunnel, and with overuse, the tunnel and the tendons can become inflamed and irritated. Parents tend to use their wrists and thumbs to hold and lift their children in such a way that cause inflammation of this tunnel and the tendons inside it," the explanation from Marin Health states. "Tenderness and pain at the base of the thumb which is made worse by moving the thumb in a downward flexed position or moving the wrist in a dart-throwing motion. Some patients can have swelling and can even feel a soft globular mass there, which is the inflamed and swollen tissues."

That certainly sounds painful, but at least Brittany Mahomes hasn't let this injury stop her from putting in work.
