Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey arrested for underage drinking, fake ID in Arkansas
Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey was arrested early Friday, May 1, for underage drinking in his hometown of Fayetteville, Ark., according to the Washington (Ark.) County Sheriff's Office.
Lindsey, who turns 21 in August, was apprehended by the Fayetteville Police Department and booked at 1:13 a.m. for minor in possession of alcohol and possession of a fraudulent identification, according to the booking document.
He was released at 8:28 a.m. Friday on a $470 bond. A hearing is scheduled for Lindsey on June 1 and a court appearance on June 29.
"We are aware of the situation and will address it internally," a University of Minnesota athletic department spokesman said in a statement.
According to a preliminary report from the Fayetteville Police Department, an officer was flagged down by staff at Yeehawg, a Fayetteville bar, at 12:51 a.m. May 1 regarding a possible fraudulent identification document. The staff provided the ID in question and directed the officer to Lindsey, who had attempted to use the ID. Lindsey admitted that the ID was fraudulent and also said he had consumed alcohol before arriving at Yeehawg.
Lindsey was transported to Washington County Detention Center, where another copy of the fraudulent ID was found in his wallet. Lindsey acknowledged and signed a minor in possession/attempted use of fraudulent or altered identification document.
Lindsey earned the starting quarterback job as a redshirt freshman in 2025 and helped the Gophers post an 8-5 record, capped by a Rate Bowl victory over New Mexico. He completed 246 of 389 passes (63.2%) for 2,382 yards and 28 touchdowns with six interceptions.
The Gophers finished spring practice on April 25 with their spring game. Lindsey completed four of five passes for 89 yards, including a 74-yarder on the second play from scrimmage. He played in two series.
