Raptors Coach Shares Brandon Ingram Update After Game 5 Exit

The Toronto Raptors will play a win-or-go-home Game 6 back in Canada after a 125-120 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5, falling behind 3-2 in the first-round series.

Toronto overturned a first-quarter deficit to lead 74-67 heading into the halftime break and entered the fourth quarter ahead 103-100. However, the Raptors went cold on the shooting front after that and gave up a 17-25 fourth quarter to the Cavs.

That final-period run was enough for Cleveland to rally and take control of the game, moving one game closer to clinching a place in the second round of the playoffs.

The Raptors, who finished the regular season 46-36 and six games behind Cleveland, have now dropped back-to-back games after taking an unexpected series lead, and will return home Friday needing a win to extend their season.

The biggest news coming out of Game 5 was the injury suffered by Raptors forward Brandon Ingram, who was forced to exit the game in the second quarter with a right heel issue.

Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic shared some details on Ingram's injury following the loss to the Cavs.

"Brandon, as you guys know, he's been dealing with his heel. He reaggravated that heel on one play. We tried to retape him," Rajakovic said. "At halftime, he tried to activate to see if he (could) be ready for the second half and he was not able to come and play the second half.

"So tomorrow we'll know more when we do more evaluation."

When asked if the injury had anything to do with the one he suffered late in the regular season, Rajakovic confirmed it.

"That's something that's kind of like on and off. He was doing well and then he just reaggravated on that play," Rajakovic said.

Ingram finished with just one point, two assists and one rebound in 11 minutes before being ruled out.

"Obviously we need him out there on the floor. The way they guard him, his shot-making ability when he's out there on the floor. He makes big plays for us on the defensive end as well," Rajakovic said.

Toronto, already without starting point guard Immanuel Quickley, will face the Cavaliers in Game 6 on Friday, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
