Padres minors: Samad Taylor powers El Paso, Jake Cunningham leads TinCaps

Left fielder Samad Taylor homers twice and drove in four runs, leading Triple-A El Paso to a 7-6 win on Wednesday at Albuquerque.

Taylor also tripled in a three-hit game that raised his batting line to .337/.421/.630 through 26 games with the Chihuahuas.

The two home runs gives the 27-year-old Taylor six on the season. He has 20 RBIs and five stolen bases in six attempts.

Third baseman Sung-Mun Song (.684 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

Designated hitter Jose Miranda (.814 OPS) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a walk and center fielder Jase Bowen (.936 OPS) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Left-hander Yuki Matsui (5.06 ERA) allowed two runs in an inning in his latest rehab appearances.

Left-hander JP Sears (7.00 ERA) struck out five and allowed three runs in 4⅓ innings in the start.

Right-hander Alek Jacob struck out three and walked a batter in a scoreless ninth for his second save.

El Paso is 14-15.

Tulsa 4, Missions 3: RF Tirso Ornelas (.684 OPS) hit his third homer and 1B Leandro Cedeno (.889 OPS) hit his first homer. 3B Carson Tucker (.867 OPS) doubled twice. CF Kai Murphy (.688 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. RHP Victor Lizarraga (10.91 ERA) allowed three runs in five innings in the start. The Missions have lost seven in a row.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (8-15)

TinCaps 7, South Bend 4: RF Jake Cunningham (1.019 OPS) drove in five runs on two hits, including his fifth homer. LF Alex McCoy (1.023 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. 2B Rosman Verdugo (.648 OPS) and C Lamar King Jr. (.679 OPS) all had two hits. RHP Clay Edmondson (0.93 ERA) saved his third game with a scoreless ninth. RHP Isaiah Lowe (7.16 ERA) allowed four runs in 3 ⅓ innings in the start.

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (13-10)

Storm 4, Ontario 3: C Victor Duarte (.962 OPS) drove in two runs on two hits, including his second homer. 2B Justin DeCriscio (.933 OPS) doubled twice. CF Ryan Wideman (.926 OPS) and 1B Luke Cantwell (.745 OPS) both had two hits. RHP Rordy Mejia (1-1, 6.60 ERA) struck out four over 2⅔ shutout innings.
