NFL Fans Calling For ESPN To Replace Mike Greenberg As Draft Host

For the sixth time in his career, Mike Greenberg was allowed to host ESPN's coverage of the NFL Draft. If viewers get their way, it'll be the last time he receives this assignment.

During the second round of the draft Friday night, Greenberg made a brutal mistake after the Cleveland Browns selected Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston with the 39th pick. The longtime ESPN personality incorrectly said, "You remember his dad, David Boston, first-round pick out of Ohio State in 1999."

Greenberg later apologized for saying David Boston is Denzel's father. He told ESPN's audience that he made a mistake researching information about the Washington product.

"The Cleveland Browns traded out of the spot (pick No. 74) just a moment ago. I was waiting for them to come around again so that I could make an apology to Denzel Boston, who, earlier tonight, I misidentified as being the son of former NFL wide receiver David Boston. It was a mistake in my research. It was a terrible one, and I apologize to them both. They are not related to each other," Greenberg said. "I apologize to both David and Denzel Boston, and congratulations to Denzel for being drafted in the second round tonight by the Cleveland Browns. It is my mistake, and I apologize for it."

ESPN's Get Up.
ESPN's Get Up. ESPN's Get Up.

Greenberg may want to stay off social media.

The past 24 hours haven't been great for Greenberg, who is getting ripped to shreds by fans.

"MY GOD! Greenberg is so useless! Why has ESPN been stuffing him into so much content for so many years?" one fan commented.

"I can no longer take him seriously," a second fan declared. "Actually, I felt that way about him a long time ago. He was terrible on SportsCenter. He was terrible when they thought he would be useful on play-by-play. I do not see any role that is good for him."

"NFL Draft thoughts... Mike Greenberg, Pat McAfee, and Mark Ingram should never be allowed at an NFL event ever again," a social media user wrote.

"Greenberg is another ESPN personality whose ego is way too big," another fan said. "He's really not that good overall. As an NFL Draft host, his personality doesn't match with the moment. Rece Davis or Rich Eisen blow him out of the waters."

ESPN clearly views Greenberg as an asset. While else would he get to host the NFL Draft?

That being said, NFL fans have made it known they're not fond of Greenberg's work.
