Breckenridge, Colorado, Reopening For One Final Surprise Ski Day

Here's a welcome plot twist: after ostensibly closing for the season on April 19, 2026, Breckenridge, Colorado, will be back in business for one more day of skiing and riding this weekend.

On Saturday, April 25, the resort is reopening some terrain during its Peaks and Beats celebration. That includes the Colorado Chair, with access to Middle 4 O'Clock, to Freeway, and Park Lane, and a small terrain park on Freeway. The first 500 Epic passholders to show up get a free lunch.

The extension comes amid a challenging season for Colorado's resorts. The winter's been historically warm, with many mountains closing down far earlier than normal. Arapahoe Basin, which regularly spins its lifts until June, is closing on May 3 this year.

In our eyes, that's all the more reason to take advantage of the remaining skiing while it lasts at Breckenridge or another mountain.

Breckenridge's Peaks and Beats send-off includes live music and a vendor village from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Free parking is available in the North and South Gondola lots, with the BreckConnect Gondola connecting the town to Peak 8.

"The forecast is sunny, and jorts, bikini tops, and tropical looks are encouraged!" Breckenridge said in an email.

Just a few other resorts remain open in Colorado.

Loveland is targeting a closing date of April 26, while Copper Mountain, like Arapahoe Basin, plans to close on May 3.

If you're on the fence, consider that some lift ticket prices have dropped significantly since mid-winter.

At Arapahoe Basin, they only cost $39 starting on April 27. Copper Mountain is offering $49 lift tickets for the final week of skiing. If you don't have an Epic Pass, skiing at Breckenridge on Saturday will run you $99.

We know this season hasn't met expectations. We also know that it isn't quite time to break out the mountain bike (okay, maybe it is, but that shouldn't stop you from skiing). When July or August hits, we can't imagine having any regrets about tacking on a few extra days.
