Thunder Get Concerning Injury Update on Jalen Williams

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jalen Williams left Wednesday night’s Game 2 victory over the Phoenix Suns after suffering a hamstring injury on his left leg. He exited the game during the third quarter and did not return in the reigning-champion’s 120-107 win.

“We think he aggravated his left hamstring,” Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said after the game. “We’ll take a look at it in the next couple of days, and we’ll update you guys appropriately.”

The Thunder issued that update on Thursday, revealing a Grade 1 hamstring strain after Williams’ MRI.

Williams will be re-evaluated on a weekly basis, according to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania.

Injuries limited Williams to 33 games in the 2025-26 NBA regular season. The 25-year-old forward, who notched his first career All-Star selection last year, averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.

Williams played a significant role in the Thunders’ series-opening Game 1 victory over the Suns, recording 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Before his exit in Game 2, he recorded 19 points on 7/11 shooting from the field and 2/3 shooting from behind the 3-point arc.

“I thought he was playing great obviously,” Daigneault said of Williams after Game 2. “He was on the gas. He had great force. He was hitting shots. Got really good shots for his teammates, especially early. So yeah, he was playing an outstanding game.”

The Thunder will tipoff against the Suns in a Game 3 matchup on Saturday afternoon.
