Baseball roundup: Orange Lutheran wins again; Mission Viejo tops El Toro

Orange Lutheran’s baseball team extended its winning streak to 10 games by beating Santa Margarita 6-3 in the Trinity League on Tuesday at Santa Margarita High.

LSU signee CJ Weinstein went 3 for 3 with a RBI and two runs scored for Orange Lutheran (17-3, 5-2). UCLA signee Hamilton Friedberg went 3 for 4 with a double, a stolen base and three RBIs.

Cooper Sides, another LSU signee, allowed two earned runs in six innings with five strikeouts to get the win.

Cooper Holland hit a home run and drove in two runs for Santa Margarita (13-9, 3-7). Warren Gravely IV went 2 for 3 with one RBI.

The two teams play again Wednesday at Hart Park.

In the Trinity League:

Mater Dei 6, JSerra 5: Mater Dei scored four runs in the fourth inning to beat JSerra at home.

Logan Miller went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for Mater Dei (12-7, 4-3). Emilio Young went 2 for 3 with one RBI and Tristan Ramos stole a base.

Ezekiel Lara and Sebastian Navarro each went 1 for 3 with a RBI. Anthony Sanchez pitched two perfect innings of relief with three strikeouts to get the win.

JSerra (7-16, 1-9) was led by home runs from Blake Bowen, Brise Boop and Owen Mescall. Boop had three RBIs. Shane D'Arcy went 2 for 3 and Otto Graham had six strikeouts in four innings.

In the Sea View League:

Mission Viejo 6, El Toro 5: Mission Viejo jumped to first place in the Sea View League standings by beating El Toro.

The Diablos scored three runs in the sixth inning to take the lead. Sam Ursulo hit a go-ahead, two-run single for Mission Viejo (13-8, 4-3) and Caleb Tucker scored on an error. Robert Nestor went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Race Neale pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings to get the win.

Jonathan Gould drove in two runs for El Toro (11-10-1, 5-4). Nathan Broesamle had two hits and Tombleson added a hit with two stolen bases.

Beckman 4, Capistrano Valley 1: Carter Head allowed one run in a complete game with eight strikeouts for Beckman.

Gus Powell drove in two runs and Kevin Patel went 1 for 1 with a RBI for Beckman (14-7-1, 3-4). Jack Powell and Sean Franco each had two hits with a run scored.

Capo Valley (6-16, 3-4) has lost eight consecutive games. Jack Schween drove in the lone run of the game for the Cougars. Talon Spencer, Reed Hitzler and Brody Hinrichsen each had doubles.

In the Sunset League:

Corona del Mar 5, Marina 4: Corona del Mar held off a late rally by Marina.

Ben Stone allowed just one run in six innings prior to the seventh when Marina rallied. Kyle Womack relieved Stone and retired three straight hitters to get the save.

Will Chavez drove in two runs and stole a base for Corona del Mar (11-11, 4-9). Charlie Kaster had two hits with a double and a RBI and Stone added a double.

Jaxon Vilardi hit a solo home run for Marina (11-12, 6-7). Fisher Veal had a double with a RBI and Elijah Herald drove in a run.

Huntington Beach 6, Los Alamitos 3: Cayden Hammond got the win on the mound and went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Huntington Beach.

Elyjah Mason had a double with two RBIs for Huntington Beach (17-4-1, 13-0). Jared Grindlinger had two doubles and Owen Bone went 2 for 3 with a RBI.

Easton Kaesman had two hits for Los Alamitos (7-16, 3-13) and Will McCullough hit a double.

In the South Coast League:

Dana Hills 9, Tesoro 1: Ryan Georgia hit a home run and had four RBIs for Dana Hills in a rout of Tesoro.

Ryan See went 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI for Dana Hills (15-7, 4-3). James Leicester hit a triple and Aiden Desormiers had a hit and a RBI.Tommy Moro got the win and Vaati Lund pitched six innings of scoreless relief with eight strikeouts.

Charlie Moraga hit a solo home run for Tesoro (7-11-1, 1-5-1).

In the Golden West League:

Kennedy 3, Tustin 0: Alex Do and Gunner Love combined for a no-hitter for Kennedy in a shutout win over Tustin.

Do pitched five no-hit innings with one walk and three strikeouts. Love pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout.

Erlin Quezada and Seth Burns drove in runs for Kennedy (3-21, 2-7).

Adam Whyte had 12 strikeouts in six innings for Tustin (13-9, 5-2).

In the North Hills League:

Yorba Linda 2, Esperanza 1: Yorba Linda scored two runs in the sixth inning to beat Esperanza.

Kenji Shirley and Konrad Butler scored for Yorba Linda (16-6-1, 6-1) on an error in the sixth. Owen Smith had two hits for the Mustangs and Drew Parmenter threw three scoreless innings of relief.

Brody Reeds allowed zero earned runs in 5⅔ innings for Esperanza (12-10, 2-5). Robert Saldivar went 2 for 3 with a RBI and Adrian Cortez added a double.

In the Empire League:

Fullerton 5, Costa Mesa 2: Fullerton took the lead in the league standings with a win over second-place Costa Mesa.

Declan Fitzgerald pitched a complete game, allowed one earned run on two hits with eight strikeouts for Fullerton (14-7, 6-2). Logan Thien had two RBIs and Caleb Brown went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

Felix Tiquia allowed two earned runs in five innings with five strikeouts for Costa Mesa (16-6, 6-3) and had a hit on offense. Kash Foti went 1 for 3 with a run scored.

In the Coast League:

Loara 3, Savanna 2: Loara closed the gap in the league standings with a walk-off win over Savanna.

Michael Chavez hit a walk-off single for Loara (12-8-1, 7-4) to score Elijah Nguyen. Cesar Ponce went 3 for 3 with a stolen base and Jose Lozano drove in a run. TJ Nicholson pitched a complete game for the Saxons, allowed one earned run and had six strikeouts.

Bradley Wright had a double with a RBI for Savanna (13-8, 7-2) and David Cabrera went 2 for 2.
