Hemeria Delatorre's career day helps Pajaro Valley softball rally for 17-14 win | Local Roundup
Junior Hemeria Delatorre had five hits, including four doubles, eight RBI, and scored four runs scored, and the Pajaro Valley High softball team rallied from 10-1 deficit to beat visiting Santa Catalina 17-14 in the teams' Pacific Coast Athletic League Santa Lucia Division game Monday.
Eight of the Grizzlies' 16 hits went for extra bases.
Freshman Myah Diggs Lozano tripled and homered for the Grizzlies (5-11 overall, 4-4 league), and senior Olivia Contreras also hit a home run. Diggs Lozano finished with four hits, one RBI, and scored four runs. Contreras had two hits, three RBI, and scored twice.
Sophomore Nadia Renteria had three hits, one RBI, four stolen bases, and scored a run for the Grizzlies. Freshman Anabell Ybarra had two hits and scored three runs.
Pajaro Valley stole 14 bases, and Santa Catalina stole nine.
Hope Yoshiyama had three hits, including two doubles, three RBI, and scored four runs for the Cougars (4-5, 2-3). Adele Ramirez had three hits, one RBI, and scored four runs.
Pajaro Valley hosts Anzar on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Jack's Surfboards Pro: Three Santa Cruzans are slated to compete in the World Surf League's Vans Jack's Surfboards Pro. a Qualifying Series 4,000-point event that runs Wednesday through Sunday in Huntington Beach.
In the men's competition, Adam Bartlett opens in Heat 4 of the Round of 96, and John Mel opens in Heat 7 of the Round of 64.
In the women's competition, Kaikora Nauenberg opens in Heat 2 of the Round of 48.
Boys lacrosse
At Monte Vista Christian 10, Pacific Grove 5: The Mustangs won their PCAL Mission Division game on Monday night.
MVC (8-3, 5-1) plays at Hollister (7-5, 3-4) on Thursday at 5 p.m.
High school baseball
At Carmel 6, St. Francis 5: Freshman Angelo Urabe Chavez had three hits, including a double, and two RBI in the Sharks' PCAL Gabilan Division loss Monday.
Freshman Brooks Drake had two hits and scored two runs for the Sharks (4-13-1, 4-9), who suffered their fifth one-run loss of the season. Junior Jay Burns had a hit, one RBI, and a run scored.
Stanford committed senior Matt Maxon hit his ninth home run of the season for the Padres (13-5, 12-1), and Michael Melnick also homered.
St. Francis hosts Carmel on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Salinas 17, at MVC 1; 5 inn.: Junior Mikie Melenudo hit a solo home run in the first inning of the Mustangs' PCAL Gabilan Division loss Monday.
Sophomore Jake Moro had the Mustangs' only other hit and drew one of the teams' seven walks.
Seniors Zachary Velasquez and Dez Corn hit home runs for the Cowboys (6-12, 4-9).
MVC (5-13, 2-11) plays at Salinas on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Boys volleyball
At Oakwood 3, Pajaro Valley 1: The Grizzlies suffered a 19-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-21 PCAL Cypress Division loss on Monday.
Pajaro Valley (6-16, 2-7) hosts York on Friday at 5 p.m.
