San Gabriel Valley softball Top 20: La Mirada, California pave the way
The San Gabriel Valley high school softball Top 20 rankings as of Monday, April 20.
SGV SOFTBALL TOP 20

1. LA MIRADA (19-3)
The Matadores were shocked by a 5-1 loss to Warren last week. It was their first Gateway League loss since 2023. They rebounded with a 2-1 win over Gahr. Now Gahr and La Mirada are tied atop the league standings with 3-1 records.

2. CALIFORNIA (18-4)
The Condors are 6-0 in the Del Rio League and can all but clinch the league title with a sweep of two games against La Serna this week. They looked good in a two-game sweep of El Rancho, notching back-to-back shutouts, 5-0 and 15-0.

3. GANESHA (13-3)
The Giants stepped away from the Miramonte League last week and lost their last big test before the playoffs begin, falling to Temescal Canyon 8-7. The Giants finish the regular season with five games against league foes. The Giants were No. 14 in last week's CIF-SS computer rankings.

4. LA HABRA (17-5)
The Highlanders have won four straight and are in contention to win the tough Crestview League title after wins over Pacifica 2-1 and Canyon 5-2. A victory over Cypress at home Tuesday would be a big boost to their league title hopes.

5. LOS ALTOS (15-8)
Once again the Hacienda League title will be settled between the Conquerors and South Hills. Both are 3-0 in league and the Conquerors visit the Huskies on Tuesday night. The Conquerors have won three of their last four.

6. BONITA (18-6)
The Bearcats showed their power in a 12-3 victory over Glendora last week. They also gave Ayala all it could handle before a 10-8 loss that dropped Ayala back into a second-place tie with Glendora in the Palomares League. They have four league games left and will finish with Glendora at home in two weeks.

7. GLENDORA (19-2-2)
The Tartans were no match for Bonita's power in a 12-3 loss that knocked Glendora into third place in the Palomares League. They rebounded with three straight wins and have a big game at Ayala on Wednesday.

8. WHITTIER CHRISTIAN (15-8-1)
The Heralds are 4-0 in the Olympic League. They're on the Division 2/3 bubble with a No. 66 in the CIF-SS computer rankings. If they fall to Division 3, they will be a force to deal with. Offensively, they can hit with anyone.

9. CHARTER OAK (13-3)
The Chargers avenged their surprising nonleague loss to Northview with a 5-2 victory over the Vikings last week to take control of the Valle Vista League with a 5-0 record. They have won eight straight and are starting to look like the Chargers from a year ago.

10. LA SALLE (15-3)
The Lancers are the hottest team in the SGV with 11 straight victories. They are 7-0 in the Camino Real League after beating Bishop Conaty-Loreto 11-0. Freshman pitcher Peyton Herdina is a big reason for their success. She is 10-2 with a 1.21 ERA and has 79 strikeouts in 75 innings.
