No NHL playoffs at home, but Sharks broadcasters are back on TV this week

SAN JOSE – The San Jose Sharks once again failed to advance to the postseason, but two of the team's longtime announcers are still getting the chance to call Stanley Cup playoff hockey.

Sharks' television play-by-play voice Randy Hahn and analyst Drew Remenda will call Games 2 and 3 of the first-round playoff series between the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks this week.

Game 2 of the series between the Pacific Division teams is in Edmonton on Wednesday and will be shown on TBS, and Game 3, in Anaheim on Friday, will air on TNT and TruTV. Both games will also be streamed on HBO Max.

Game 1 of the series in Edmonton airs on ESPN2 on Monday at 7 p.m (PT), with play-by-play voice John Kelly and analyst Cassie Campbell-Pascall. The Oilers, who have reached the Stanley Cup Final each of the past two seasons, finished second in the Pacific Division with 93 points, one point ahead of the Ducks.

The Sharks, with 86 points, finished fifth in the Pacific and 11th in the Western Conference, missing the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season.

Hahn has been broadcasting Sharks games since the team's first NHL season in 1991-92, and has served as the team's full-time television play-by-play voice since 1993-94. He and Remenda are 11-time Northern California Emmy Award winners.

Hahn and Remenda worked together for years, first from 2000 to 2006 and then from 2007 to 2014, before the Sharks organization parted ways with Remenda. The former Sharks assistant coach wasn’t out of work for long as he became an analyst for Sportsnet on Oilers broadcasts. Remenda then returned to the Sharks’ broadcast booth in 2021.
