Caitlin Clark Makes Honest Confession Ahead of WNBA Season

The WNBA season is just around the corner, and on Sunday, training camp officially opened with all 15 teams getting back on the court.

One of the most intriguing teams heading into the new season is the Indiana Fever, who welcome Caitlin Clark back after she appeared in just 13 games last year. She dealt with multiple injuries, most notably a groin issue that sidelined her for the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs.

Now, Clark says she's fully healthy. She played in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers last month in Puerto Rico, earning MVP honors, and is ready to lead Indiana once again.

Still, she admitted Sunday that she needs to be smarter about how she manages her body, especially when it comes to not pushing through every single rep during long practice days.

"I was talking to (Stephanie White) a little bit, and I'm the person that doesn't want to sit out a single rep. I want to be in there every single time. … None of that has changed, but just being a little bit smarter with my body and understanding what it takes," Clark said. "And obviously on camp days, like these days are really long, so taking care of my body at this point in the season is probably the most important thing.

"But like I said, I've never really sat on the sidelines before, so that was a very humbling experience."

Clark is already a two-time All-Star despite appearing in just 13 games last season, and she was even named one of the team's captains, a reflection of how well she was playing before the injury.

Even without her, the Fever remained in the championship picture, showing they're not far off. That made it clear what the priority was this offseason - bringing back their core. Indiana did just that, agreeing to new deals with Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, and Sophie Cunningham.
