Arne Slot Reacts to Liverpool Crisis – 'Unbelievable What's Happening to Us'
Liverpool pulled off a dramatic 2-1 win over local rivals Everton at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Premier League.
This win gives Liverpool the edge over other teams competing to reach the top five positions of the Premier League table, which guarantees them a place in the Champions League next season.
Liverpool won the match with a late game-winning goal from Virgil van Dijk, who scored a header from a corner kick.
Van Dijk and Liverpool manager Arne Slot are satisfied with the team getting them closer to Champions League qualification for next season, but they expressed frustration with how the season went.
Slot went further in expressing how the season has played since they are the reigning Premier League champions, who will not be able to defend it this season.
The Liverpool manager expresses worry about the injury crisis the squad is facing, as goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili suffered an injury, which led to him coming off the pitch.
Arne Slot on Liverpool Injury Crisis
With Giorgi Mamardashvili going out injured in the game and being replaced by Freddie Woodman, who is the third-choice goalkeeper of Liverpool, Arne Slot talked about the injury crisis the squad has faced this season, which has led to struggling performances.
Slot said, "Usually third goalkeepers don't play a lot, but in a season like ours, I think if you are playing at the moment in the U8s of Liverpool, you should be ready for making your debut because it's unbelievable what's happening to us."
Despite frustration in facing another injury in the squad, Slot was proud of Woodman's performance, who did not concede when coming on.
Slot said, "Giorgi had to go to hospital, big wound, so let's see how he will be. But Freddie deserves a lot of credit because if you have to come in just after conceding the 1-1 and the fans were ready for it, but he did his job really well. Kept his calm in a difficult moment where he was doubting if he should catch the ball, yes or no, and he kept his nerves and worked so hard to have this moment."
