Draymond Green embraces heel moment in Warriors loss with hilarious ejection

Draymond Green took full advantage of a reversed technical foul for a very on-brand ejection to end his season for the Golden State Warriors on Friday.

Toward the end of the third quarter, Green got tangled up with Phoenix Suns forward Haywood Highsmith while battling for a rebound after a free throw. Both players were initially given a tech, but the call was reversed to be a double-foul instead. As the Amazon broadcast pointed out immediately after the reversal announcement, if there were ever a player that would take advantage of having a technical foul to give, it was Golden State's enforcer.

So that's exactly what Green did in the final minute of the game, a 111-96 loss to send the Warriors home for the summer. After head coach Steve Kerr made it a point to take the 36-year-old forward and Steph Curry out of the game, and embrace his two longtime veterans, Green started chirping at Suns guard Devin Booker. Green's initial back-and-forth earned him an actual double tech alongside the Suns star, but that didn't deter him from continuing his antics. As Phoenix inbounded the ball shortly after the first tech, Green kept jawing at Booker, prompting official Scott Foster to emphatically throw both players out of the game.

Ever the showman, Green taunted the Phoenix crowd as he left the floor, cupping his ear and raising his hands to prompt the Phoenix crowd to jeer louder. Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. was at the mouth of the tunnel as Green approached and did not crack a smile.

When Kerr took Curry and Green out of the game, he embraced his two longtime stars and appeared to exchange some sentimental words. While there's an entire offseason to figure out what the future holds for the three remaining members of Golden State's championship core, how fitting it is that Green's last act in a Warriors uniform this season is being the heel that helped make him a legend in the Bay Area.
