Fever's Aliyah Boston Tops A'ja Wilson for Richest Contract in WNBA History

Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell led a skeleton crew version of the Indiana Fever last year.

The Fever had been ravaged by injury, including Caitlin Clark being limited to 13 games, but Boston and Mitchell were constants. Indiana reached the WNBA semifinals and gave the eventual champion Las Vegas Aces everything they could handle before losing in five games.

Boston, 24, and Mitchell, 30, have been rewarded for their efforts.

Last weekend, the Fever signed Mitchell to a one-year contract designated as the new $1.4 million supermax, per ESPN’s Chiney Ogwumike.

On Friday, ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, Shams Charania, and Alexa Philippou jointly reported that Boston is signing a four-year, $6.3 million contract extension.

“She will make $1 million in the upcoming season and 20% of the cap through 2029,” Andrews wrote.

Boston’s $6.3 million total salary is now the richest in WNBA history, surpassing the $5 million supermax signed by Wilson with the Aces earlier this week. Wilson, 29, is the reigning WNBA MVP, WNBA Finals MVP, and Defensive Player of the Year.

Under the new collective bargaining agreement, ratified on March 24, Boston was max eligible this offseason because she earned All-WNBA honors last season. For those wondering, Caitlin Clark will become max eligible next offseason as a 2024 All-WNBA player.

The Fever drafted Boston No. 1 overall out of South Carolina in 2023. She won Rookie of the Year and has been an All-Star in each of her three WNBA seasons. On top of All-WNBA, Boston was also All-Defensive in 2025.

On Monday night, Indiana drafted Raven Johnson, Boston’s former South Carolina teammate, with the 10th overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
