If the list of players seeded in the Top 16 is an indication, Orange County boys tennis appears ready for another strong showing next week at the 124th Ojai tournament.

Six county boys, including 2025 runner-up Matteo Huarte of Mater Dei, are seeded in the Top 16 for the CIF singles competition, which begins Thursday, April 23.

Eight doubles teams from Orange County are seeded in the Top 16.

Orange County boys tennis is on a remarkable run at the storied event. The county has swept the singles and doubles titles at Ojai for four consecutive tournaments.

Defending Ojai singles champion Rishvanth Krishna of University isn’t playing high school tennis this season. He defeated Huarte 6-4, 6-4 in the finals last season at Libbey Park.

Beckman's Caden Lee and Edwin Yuan won the Ojai doubles title last spring in a pairing of a senior and freshman. They defeated Marina’s Trevor Nguyen and David Tran 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in the doubles final.

Tran returns next week with Alejandro Hill as his doubles partner.

The CIF boys competition runs April 23-25. The Ojai also plays host to the Big Ten Conference’s men’s team championships next week.
