Mets Make Jorge Polanco Decision for Dodgers Game

The New York Mets will have to attempt to end their seven-game losing streak without Jorge Polanco on Wednesday. According to Mike Puma, the infielder is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to an injury.

"Jorge Polanco is absent from the lineup today, bothered by his Achilles bursitis. Plan is to evaluate him Friday in Chicago. Carlos Mendoza admitted the IL is a possibility," Puma reported.

Injuries have been a concern for New York early in the 2026 campaign. Star outfielder Juan Soto is already out with an injury, while utility player Jared Young landed on the injured list on Wednesday. Now there is a chance that Polanco could also end up on the IL due to his Achilles injury concern.

The Mets still have a talented roster overall. Regardless, they are struggling at the moment. It seems like nothing is going right for the team. Even when they play competitive contests, they simply cannot find ways to win ball games. For example, they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by the Dodgers on Tuesday night.

The Mets will try to get the job done on Wednesday in Los Angeles against the best team in baseball.

Jorge Polanco Dealing With Injury Concern

Polanco, 32, is a former All-Star. 2026 represents his first season with New York. He has struggled through his first 14 games played with the Mets.

Overall, the infielder is hitting .179/.246/.286 across 14 games played. He has hit one home run and three doubles as well.

Polanco spent the 2025 season with the Seattle Mariners. He ended up hitting .265/.326/.495 in 138 games played. He also hit 26 home runs and 30 doubles.

There is no question that he has the ability to make a significant impact in any lineup. Polanco will surely turn things around once he is healthy. At the moment, his primary focus is on returning from his Achilles concern.

The Mets are set to enter the contest on Wednesday with a 7-11 overall record. As a result, Washington is in last place in the National League East standings. Ending their losing streak against the first place Dodgers will be far from a simple task.

Clay Holmes, who has a 1.50 ERA so far in 2026, will do everything he can to lead New York on Wednesday night as he gets the start. The game is set to begin at 7:10 PM in Los Angeles.
