Why 49ers star RB Christian McCaffrey was at San Joaquin Memorial in Fresno

San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey made his presence felt in Fresno on Friday afternoon.

Hundreds of children ages 6-16 went to San Joaquin Memorial for the Christian McCaffrey youth football camp from 4-8 p.m.

More than 600 youths signed up to get some pointers from McCaffrey and coaches, while 49ers fans looked on and cheered and music played.

“Fresno is just one of many stops,” event organizer Edward Galloway of FlexSports said. “We have five different cities for McCaffrey, and we think Fresno was in need of some McCaffrey action.”

Even the turnout surprised Galloway, who said the camp was going to be interesting and fun.

The turnout shouldn’t be a surprised since many 49ers fans reside in the Fresno area

The campers got to take pictures with McCaffrey and signed memorabilia afterwards.
