Elderly woman struck by vehicle near Fresno store. Driver remained on scene, police say

An elderly woman was struck by a vehicle Sunday night near a Fresno store.

Officers with the Fresno Police Department responded to the collision just before 8 p.m. at Olive and Hughes avenues, near Choice Food Market.

Lt. Henry Garcia said the vehicle struck the 79-year-old woman in the roadway.

She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with officers, Garcia said.

Garcia said detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene.
