Jose Ramirez is no longer with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions.

Ramirez (28-1, 18 KOs) signed a contract with Golden Boy Promotions, headed by former world champion Oscar De La Hoya.

The deal was announced during Saturday’s Vergil Ortiz-Frederick Lawson bout that was shown by DAZN.

The former unified junior world champion and Avenal native was with Top Rank since 2012 when he made his debut in Las Vegas.

Under Top Rank, Ramirez fought in the central San Joaquin Valley many times.

Ramirez won the WBC title in New York in 2018 when he defeated Amir Imam. He later followed with a WBO title win over Maurice Hooker in Arlington, Texas in 2019.

Ramirez hasn’t fought since last March when he defeated Richard Commey at the Save Mart Center in Fresno.

“Ramirez prime starts now,” Ramirez’s agent/promoter Rick Mirgian said. “Golden Boy stepped up in a big way to sign him.”
