Packed crowd at Fresno City College gym sees NBA players, former Fresno State standouts
Quincy Pondexter always gave back to the Fresno community when he played in the NBA.
Such as holding youth camps, among other things.
Pondexter is no longer in the NBA, but that hasn’t stopped him from putting together events that bring the community together.
Sunday was proof of that when he and others, such as NBA free agent forward Rudy Gay, Miami Heat center and former Fresno State star Orlando Robinson, Dallas Mavericks guard Jaden Hardy, Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer and former world boxing champion Jose Ramirez assisted in meeting with the community at Fresno City College.
The youth were given backpacks, school supplies and an iPad.
On top of that, the youth and those in attendance were entertained when Pondexter’s team took on Team Pro-Am.
While Pondexter’s team lost 121-119, the packed crowd were still treated, including when Alan Palesano, known to fans as whit3_iverson and Cash Williams went toe-to-toe and dazzled the crowd.
“It turned out really great,” Pondexter said. “I want to make this bigger and bigger every single time.”
Also competing were former Fresno State basketball standouts Greg Smith and Deshon Taylor and football player Kenny Wiggins.
