Fresno City College, Reedley advances to baseball Super Regionals. How they got there

The Fresno City College baseball team advances to the next round of the Northern California junior college regionals.

The sixth-seeded Rams were too much for No. 19 Diablo Valley in a 10-2 victory in the first round of the regionals on Saturday.

It helped with a strong pitching performance by starter Cam Cunnings who went 6.1 innings with eight strikeouts. He was backed by Isaiah Monge and Blake King, who each drove in three runs.

The Rams won the opener on Friday, 8-0.

Fresno City will go to Folsom Lake for the Super Regionals in a double elimination format on May 11-13. Other teams in the Super Regionals are No. 3 Folsom Lake and No. 10 Los Medanos.

Reedley also advances

No. 12 Reedley needed a third game to dispatch No. 13 Feather River

After losing 11-1 earlier Saturday, the Tigers bounced back to defeat the Eagles 9-6.

Leo Arreguin had a two-run triple in the fifth inning to give Reedley a 7-4 lead. Mike Rios had a solo home run in the eighth inning.

Reedley won Friday’s opener, 10-8.

The Tigers will go to No. 1 Santa Rosa in the Super Regionals. Cañada is the other team that will be there.
