Sacramento State golfer Ethan Davidson beat former Buchanan High player Garrett Boe in an 18th-hole playoff to win the 93rd annual Fresno City Amateur Championships.

Each player shot a 10-under 134 in rounds Saturday and Sunday at Riverside Golf Course. Boe, a freshman this season at Cal State Fullerton, shot 65-69. Davidson, a Sac State sophomore from Calabasas, shot 68-66.

Boe, whose amateur affiliation is out of Belmont Country Club, played in all seven tournaments for Fullerton before the season was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic.

Riley Bell, a Sac State sophomore from Yuba City, finished third at 68-67—135. Five-time and defending champion Danny Paniccia from Sunnyside Country Club was fourth at 68-70—138. First-round leader Jonathan Keane, the former Santa Clara University player from The Olympic Club in San Francisco, was fifth at 63-76—139.

Twenty golfers in the 159-player field broke par for the two-day event, which was postponed from its traditional three-round run on Memorial Day weekend because of the pandemic.
