Privately-operated marinas at Pine Flat, Kaweah and Success reopen to public
The boat ramps, parking lots and restroom facilities at the privately-operated marinas at Pine Flat Lake, Lake Kaweah and Success Lake reopened to the public on Wednesday, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.
The facilities have been closed since March 26 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and state shelter-in-place orders.
The partial opening does not include all boat ramps, day-use areas, playgrounds or campgrounds at the lakes, and all other U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District recreation areas in the central San Joaquin Valley remain closed to visitors.
Also reopening Wednesday are the privately-operated facilities at Englebright Lake northeast of Sacramento, another Corps-run facility in the district.
State recreation areas – in the Valley, Millerton Lake and San Luis Reservoir – remain closed, and there are closures and severe restrictions at most other lakes in the region.
At Pine Flat, the privately-operated marinas are Pine Flat Lake Marina at Deer Creek Recreation Area and Lakeview Marina.
At Success Lake, one parking lot and one boat ramp will be open and the marina will be open to slip-renters only – there are no boat rentals yet.
At Lake Kaweah, the parking lot, launch map and restroom facilities at Lemon Hill will be open.
The Corps said it has coordinated with sheriff’s offices in Fresno County (for Pine Flat), Tulare County (Kaweah and Success) and Nevada County (Englebright) to provide boating safety and law enforcement at the lakes.
Signs also have been posted around the lakes to keep visitors informed of safe practices, and cleaning services are in place.
