Coronavirus threat cancels California JC state basketball tournament in Lemoore

The state junior college basketball tournament this weekend in Lemoore has been canceled because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The California Community College Athletic Association made the decision late Thursday morning.

The 2020 state championships were scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. today at West Hills College Lemoore.

Eight men’s and eight women’s teams were scheduled to begin competition today and Friday at Golden Eagle Arena that included the Fresno City College and College of the Sequoias men’s basketball teams.

Earlier this week, the CCCAA said fans and media wouldn’t be allowed due to concerns of the COVID-19.
