Hanford’s DJ Netto wins Faria Memorial at Thunderbowl

DJ Netto of Hanford won the 22nd annual Chris & Brian Faria Memorial on Saturday night at Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway.

The young sprint car driver, in his family-owned car, earned the pole position for the 30-lap King of the West series main event by winning the trophy dash and converted it into the feature victory.

It was a tough night for other central San Joaquin Valley drivers: Dominic Scelzi of Fresno was 17th, Bud Kaeding in the Oakhurst-based Williams Motorsports car 18th after dropping out on lap 20, Mitchell Faccinto of Hanford 20th after a lap 8 accident and Carson Macedo of Lemoore, who came in as the series points leader, 22nd after a lap 2 accident.

Danny Faria Jr. of Tipton won the companion USAC West Coast Sprint Cars feature, and Blake Robertson won the Western Racesaver main event.
