Fresno County Athletic Hall of Fame will finally have a home

The Fresno County Athletic Hall of Fame will finally be a place you can visit.

Walt Byrd Jr., the hall of fame board president, and Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro announced Thursday night that construction on the organization’s new home will begin this summer. They made the announcement at the 59th annual Enshrinement Dinner.

After raising $1.5 million, a state-of-the art facility will be built in the southwest corner of the Save Mart Center at Fresno State.

“We have raised sufficient funding to launch a fabulous opening of the Hall of Fame that our community will be very proud of and families will want to visit again and again,” Byrd said.

The new hall of fame will display the accomplishments of athletes and team inductees and their memorabilia as well as kiosks with videos and learning opportunities.
