Amber Hair is a food and restaurant reporter and influencer for McClatchy. They have 10 years of experience in journalism. They earned a BS in Journalism from the University of Central Florida and an MS in Business Journalism from Arizona State University.

Amber began their career covering community and small-business news at The Villages Daily Sun, a mid-sized daily newspaper in America’s largest master-planned retirement community. They moved to California in December 2019 to cover health, economics and other topics for the Pacific Coast Business Times. In 2021, they were promoted to assistant managing editor of research and special reports, and in 2022, they became co-managing editor. They helped lead the paper before accepting their current role at The Fresno Bee.

In their free time, Amber is an enthusiastic bookworm and cat parent. They enjoy exploring, playing board games, making art, writing poetry and trying new recipes.
