Farmworkers need respect, recognition
Farmworkers are not second-class citizens and should not be treated as such. They should be compensated fairly just like other workers. Farming is a business, even if many think they are nonprofit organizations.
Throughout the years, farmworkers have been used and abused, and thankfully, many laws made have changed that. It is time for us to recognize that those who do this kind of work enjoy it, even though the pay is not the best.
Many of us who are children of farmworkers see this and want a little respect and recognition. We all need to see that those who pick our crops and vegetables are not all illegals, rapists and thugs but folks who contribute to our society.
