Black voters too smart to fall for Trump
The article in the Aug. 21 paper, “Trump reaches out to blacks, Latinos,” reported that Donald Trump has been working on boosting his appeal among African-American voters. He is declaring he can win 95 percent of the African American vote at the end of his first term in office, if he is elected.
I was immediately reminded of Wimpy in one of those Popeye cartoons I was so fond of as a child. “I will gladly pay you on Tuesday for a hamburger today.” African-American voters are just too smart to fall for it.
Trump supporters remind me of another saying I think is true. If you like someone they can dump a bowl of spaghetti on your head and you won’t care, but if you don’t like someone, the way they hold their fork will annoy you.
