Lawyer up! Lead-laced water presents huge liability for Fresno

The fall guy for the northeast Fresno water crisis has been identified, Robert Morehouse. He was fired in 2011. What has the city done since 2011 to right these wrongs?

Not much, except it spent $800,000 to discover the fact. Really! The city is now hiring lawyers to assess their liabilities.

Guarantee Real Estate and its lawyers have identified 45,000 homeowners who must sign disclosure statements that their water may contain lead if they try to sell their homes. What happens to the property values of these homes? How about free water testing for these people? More liability? What about all the schools in the affected area? There are approximately 20 schools in this outlined area.

A lot of businesses, senior housing and at least one hospital are affected. I hope that helps define the scope of this problem for the city’s new lawyer.

Finally, the city has filed false reports with the state since 2004. In turn, the state has filed false reports with the feds. There is lead in the drinking water.

Wake up. It’s a huge liability for the city of Fresno.
