Clovis: Tear down license plate scanners
On July 30, I was passing through the intersection of Shaw and Willow avenues and noticed what looked to be license-plate scanners mounted on a traffic signal.
A quick Google of “Clovis license plate scanner” confirmed my hunch. The City of Clovis now has its very own Checkpoint Charlie. What’s next, a guard shack, gate and barbed wire? The official line is they were installed to fight crime, stolen cars, etc. But, alas, most stolen cars usually have switched license plates. This is just another invasion of our freedom and right to privacy.
I have started a Facebook page Stay Free, Boycott Clovis. Please join me in letting the City of Clovis know the we will not tolerate the infringement of our freedom of movement and that this is “A way of Life” that is not acceptable.
Mayor Nathan Magsig: Tear down those scanners!
