Trump disorder: Narcissistic personality

“Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultra confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that’s vulnerable to the slightest criticism,” according to the Mayo Clinic website.

The cause of NPD is unknown. Diagnosis is by a trained psychiatrist. Psychiatric treatment (psychotherapy) is usually difficult because the individuals generally do not recognize the need.

If you have not done so, I urge you to go to the internet and search on “narcissistic personality disorder.” You will find a list of symptoms which are common to persons with NPD. Keep this list in mind as you follow the upcoming presidential election. To me, Donald Trump has many, if not all, of the characteristics.

Either Secretary Hillary Clinton or Trump will be our next president. Many of us lament that these two candidates are the best our country can do, but that is what we have. We must decide between them. There are many who dislike Clinton so much that they feel Trump is a better choice. He is not.
