Freeway trash and weeds are ‘disgraceful’
I wish to add our concerns to the recent letters concerning the amount of trash and weeds along our highways and freeways. The disgraceful conditions are truly a pig sty and something one would expect to find only in some undeveloped country.
We recently had visitors from another country, and I warned them that their first impression of Fresno via its freeway would be nothing but disgusting. Why is it that the Clovis and Madera freeways are maintained and Fresno’s are not? Why are the fines for littering not enforced?
I have witnessed our city and county trash haulers spewing trash while driving the freeway. Shouldn’t they be required to clean up after themselves or face the same fines as the general public? Who is responsible for the weed removal and why isn’t it being taken care of?
I hope someone in charge will respond and let the public know when we can expect a change for the better.
