Fresno leaders pass the buck on freeway trash
Rest assured, Susie Steffen (July 22 letter), you are not the only one who has concerns of the trash and weed problem that plagues Freeway 41. Three words come to mind: disgusting, disgraceful and embarrassing!
As for our civic leaders three more words pop up – pass the buck! If one Fresno City Councilmember cannot pick up a phone and call the powers that be it is incumbent upon us, as concerned citizens, to elect someone who will. It is time for council members to do more than lean back in their cushy recliners refusing to drink perfectly good swamp water. They do not need to convene a committee or hire a consulting firm to figure out a solution.
Along these lines, I recently visited a city south of Fresno. This city, although much poorer than Fresno, offered beautiful, pristine streets compared to Freeway 41. The city is Tijuana!
Lastly, let us address the mess on Freeway 41 and then maybe someone can take a look at the eyesore that greets travelers on Freeway 168 north of Bullard Avenue!
