Don’t compare guns to cars

Concerning Stephen Pendleton’s ill informed letter (July 11) regarding the AR-15. He drums up the same poor arguments used time and again by anti-gun activists. I guffawed at his comment that the AR-15 would “blow the meat” apart on an animal. In fact, the AR-15 cartridge is banned from hunting in many states because it is too weak and underpowered to humanely kill a deer.

Also, what a poor argument to bring up comparing guns to cars. Driving is a privilege, not a right such as gun ownership. But let’s say, for the sake of argument, that treating cars and guns the same is a good idea.

That means I can get my concealed-carry license, and then carry my gun in all 50 states with no restrictions? Since my driver’s license is good in all 50 states, all my gun rights should be applicable as well, too. Are you sure you want to treat guns and cars the same way?
