No fan of fireworks

Though some people may enjoy shooting off legal and illegal fireworks, most people I have spoken with are not at all fans of the noise rocking the night and early morning hours, and the smoke fouling the air.

This year was the worst for noise. I don’t want to rain on the “right to celebrate,” but what about the rest of us who should have equal rights to peace and not having our animals afraid for their lives?

What is most irritating is that there is no consideration for the neighbors. These booms go on all night and morning long the week before July 4 and days after.

I would be OK with no fireworks stands or personal displays and forcing people to go to the celebrations at local stadiums. If that isn’t possible, how about making sure that these fireworks can only be legal for one night?

It is taxing on law enforcement and the fire department as well. And what about our drought? Takes water to put out fires started by fireworks and to even douse the used fireworks. I am hoping my voice will be heard as it represents many.
