No rational debate on grades issue

Valley Voices commentary on grades might might have led to a rational debate on the topic, but the writer’s use of the phrase “intellectual rape” would seem to have precluded that possibility.

The personal attack on a Fresno City College instructor for giving the writer’s daughter a grade he and she believed to be unjustified, (Valley Voices June 16) seems oddly out of place as a commentary on The Bee’s Opinion page.

Some Bee readers have apparently already made up their minds on this issue after hearing only one side of the argument. The commentary might have led to a rational debate on the topic, but the writer’s use of the phrase “intellectual rape” would seem to have precluded that possibility.
