Diablo closure is a big loss
I am sorry to see the future closing of the Diablo Canyon power station owned by PG&E. While it directly produces 9 percent of our state’s power, at night its extra unused electricity is used to re-pump water from Wishon to Courtright reservoirs behind Shaver Lake that provides even more hydroelectric power to the grid.
Another truly big loss is a nuclear power plant’s ability to provide badly needed desalinated water for coastal communities as it is currently doing for Avila Beach.
