Ads teach kids that it’s ‘all about me’

It is to laugh. (No, not really. It’s very disheartening and sad.)

I don’t watch much TV anymore, as there is nothing that I consider particularly of value except baseball. But, I do find the ads most interesting in that they’re premise is “It’s all about me.”

I should have this product, this beer and the women will flock to me; my life will be better if I drive this particular automobile, and, the one hook I like the most is “I deserve it.”

Marketing has existed for a long time. But one of my concerns is (besides the suggestively immoral ads) what this type of marketing is telling our children. What happens to a nation whose children grow up thinking all of life is about them and centers around them ? I shudder at the thought.
