People protect their families with guns
Twice in the last week, political cartoons have appeared in the newspaper regarding gun violence. The June 25 cartoon was misleading and obviously favored the political position of the left. It showed bodies strewn on the ground with the Capitol in the background and the caption 30,000 Americans (victims) protest.
How many people are aware that about two-thirds of those deaths are self-inflicted? That is about the number of people who overdose every year. I have absolutely no problem with laws that keep firearms out of the hands of criminals, but balk at encroaching on the constitutionally protected rights of law-abiding citizens.
We hear a lot about gun violence but rarely hear about people who successfully protect their families with a firearm. It happens all the time. You don’t have to look any further than the monthly column of The Armed Citizen column in NRA America’s 1st Freedom monthly magazine.
