My challenge to the media
Oh, the media is so good! It breaks stories, sends cameras, sticks microphones in people’s faces, profiles suspects, and digs out every bit of what it thinks we want to know and it has the duty to report. Well nobody ever asked me what I want to know, so I’ll tell you.
Regarding Orlando, what I’d like to see, especially on mass shootings, is the voting record of politicians on gun control on the screen at the same time the carnage is covered – not their tired speaking points.
I’d like to see names of lobbyists and money received from the NRA on screen when the media shows officials talk about death tolls and valiant first-responders. I’d like to see statistics of gun deaths in America compared to other countries as a grieving mother sobbing over her slain child is interviewed. Show me total gun-sale profits as we see faces of murdered innocents.
Getting the picture? The whole picture? That’s what I want. I dare the media to give it to us. Now. Also provide the answer to the question that is always asked, “When will it all end, when is enough enough?”
