Support Fresno’s historic downtown

I was sorry to learn that my friend Kate McKnight’s new downtown restaurant “The Republican” is closing at the end of the month. While researching my book “The Good Intent,” it was obvious how important The Republican newspaper was to the people of early Fresno and it was a clever name choice for what once was The Downtown Club.

I believe downtown Fresno will come back. We have a rich history in Fresno’s downtown area, and we need to support it. This is where Fresno began.
