Forget aerobics, pick up roadside trash
I agree with V.E. Kral (June 9 letter). But rather than wait for years for a budget allowance by the city, county or state to clean up our roads, I go for a walk with grocery bags in hand and pick up the bottles, cans and trash myself, and recycle all that I can.
Not only is this a great civic thing to do for your community, but you get fresh air and exercise to boot. All that reaching, stretching, bending, and you don’t have to pay an aerobics instructor for it nor pay for a gym membership. You feel good about what you’ve done, and you’re a good example to others. Be sure to wear waterproof gloves.
