It’s party of Reagan no more
I have been a registered Republican since 1980. I voted for Ronald Reagan in my first election and have voted for Republicans in every election for virtually every office since then. But, to paraphrase Reagan, “The Republican Party has left me.”
The Republican leadership has provided the electorate with poor options for president over the past several years. The fact that Donald Trump is the party’s presidential nominee is proof of its impotence and inability to recruit leaders. The party should be embarrassed by his lack of standards and professionalism. Trump supporters cannot discern between thoughtful policy and carnival barker puffery. I will not be a member of that club.
As of today, I am no longer a Republican.
