Hospice: ‘Bright and blessed experience’
Recently I read of another local government foul-up. Yep, government did it again. Hearing that made me feel someone just might appreciate hearing of a positive, bright and blessed experience that perhaps they didn’t know about – one that by the grace of God I and my family experienced.
When I was told I might need hospice services for my husband, I chose Saint Agnes Hospice and to care for my husband myself at home. It wasn’t but minutes at home until I found this assignment far bigger than I imagined. My nursing skills were close to zero.
Soon phone calls of hope came. The nurses, doctor, caregivers and a chaplain came, along with every necessary medicine or form of supply. Would it be greedy of me, I thought, to call Veterans Affairs? Yes, my husband qualified for VA’s Comfort Keepers.
The next five months were the most helpful, blessed and pleasant five months a patient could experience. The most caring, loving, helpful, skilled, encouraging and precious people one could ever hope for became our family. My husband’s life was the most comfortable, loving and blessed life for the next five months.
