Some dogs are born to run
It only takes a fence.
In response to A.E. Lantis’ letter of May 17, why not simply install an additional fence and gate cordoning off dog-friendly areas of selected ponding basins? Many ponding basin/parks have been closed for over a year because of one incident. As I understand it, this was due to an adjoining homeowners’ faulty fence. Some regular dog parks have a separate area for small dogs. Why not have a separate area for dogs to run – period?
If the flood-control district can afford to keep these areas watered, and the green grass mowed, let the public have access. I’m sure most dog owners would agree and comply. Dogs do not get substantial exercise just walking on a leash. Some are, as the philosopher Bruce Springsteen says, “born to run.”
