Let animals roam in stores
I am responding to the article May 24 “Bill takes bite out of rescuing animals stuck in hot cars.”
Nascent Assembly Bill 797 will put “teeth and claws,” in this endeavor and allow Californians to smash car windows and break impaired animals out of vehicles that are too hot or cold.
Such compassion for defenseless animals of unscrupulous owners cannot come soon enough. Fortunately, we do have some very gracious owners of grocery stores, home and garden stores, craft stores etc. that welcome dogs.
Dogs cause few, if any, problems in public venues, unlike their human counterparts who often engage in offensive and destructive behavior both physical and verbal. If we are to be authentic stewards of God’s animal creation, we must be more inclusive and allow dogs entry to places people are allowed to roam.
This will result in fewer smashed car windows and usher in more humane treatment for both animals and humans, which is what we must all strive to achieve.
