Darius Assemi hides real agenda
In his desire to put a knife in the back of Mayor Ashley Swearengin, Darius Assemi presents a bunch of facts that have the appearance of an overall truth. But because of the dishonest way he connects one fact to the other fact, his piece as a whole doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.
Facts can be difficult lies to unpack. Mr. Assemi takes one fact that serves his end and conflates it with another fact that serves his end, so his case against the mayor appears tightly woven, rational sounding. But it’s all a fabrication that hides another agenda.
Mr. Assemi dresses up his bottom line with a lot of embroidery about giving back. But is philanthropy really philanthropy when it becomes just another tool to extract what you need out of elected officials, bureaucrats, the press and public?
If he was truly being honest, Mr. Assemi would flatly admit that his gripe with the mayor is that she had the gall to try to end Fresno’s forever practice of subsidizing developer sprawl.
