Fresno is a business-friendly city

I am confused about claims that Fresno is an unfriendly place to do business.

I realize that everyone has his or her own experience, as I have certainly had mine. We have been working on an expansion project for two years. At the beginning of this project, we seriously considered moving our company out of town. Then the city stepped in.

The city went out of its way to demonstrate that we belong in Fresno. All of our dealings with the city have been professional, responsive and met with urgency.

I have attended many meetings with contractors and the city. On several occasions, we left the meeting with the contractors shaking their heads in amazement over how cooperative our city is. Many of these contractors were from out of town.

When deadlines became urgent, Mayor Ashley Swearengin stepped in and instructed her staff to attend weekly meetings with our ownership and contractors to keep the project on pace.

I applaud the mayor and the city for their eager dedication to our project. We are proud to call Fresno our home and help expand employment opportunities in our city.
